Welcome T.R.

For those of you who have not heard yet, today is the first day of what should transpire to be a great thing for Rangers fans and readers of mlb.com and texasrangers.com.

T.R. Sullivan, who has covered the Rangers for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for more years than he probably cares to remember, begins today (Jan. 19) as the Rangers beat writer for texasrangers.com and mlb.com.

T.R. wrote a final column for the Star-Telegram this past Sunday for the paper which can be read here: http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/baseball/mlb/texas_rangers/13632659.htm

T.R.’s talents as a writer should bring the readers right into the minds of the Rangers executives, coaching staff and players.

I know he will be missed at the Star-Telegram but we are happy to have him around the club everyday with the added bonus for readers of posting stories and news in an instant instead of waiting for the paper the next morning.

Jesse Sanchez and Robert Falkoff have done a great job of covering the club over the past few years and they are not going anywhere either.  Jesse is going to concentrate writing more for mlb.com’s Spanish-language section of the site while Robert becomes a general assignment writer.  I’m sure you will see both of their by-lines on the Rangers and league site many times not only this year but in the future.  I would also like to personally thank them for their work covering the club.

Let’s again welcome T.R. to the MLB "family" if you will.  I think all Ranger and baseball fans are looking foward to not only your first story but the thousands that will come in the future.

I guess this is pretty exciting for T.R. I hope it works out as well for his fans. I have read his columns since the beginning, and he is undoubtedly the most knowledgable writer when it comes to the Rangers. However, as a 55 year old who is very in touch with the “new media”, I also love the “old media”. I look forward to reading the Star-Telegram’s wonderful columnists over breakfast every morning. While I have a computer on my desk at work and will surely search out T.R.’s columns, I’ll miss him in the morning when I’m hungry for news and perspectives. Good luck, T.R. and Texas Rangers. I hope this is the beginning of a great new way to inform fans of the great Texas Rangers.
